When you want to use the speech bubbles in Renpy you may face situations where you need a more flexible way to define the placement of the bubbles from within your script. By now you can use the speech bubble editor but this may not be flexible enough. For example: I wanted to use speech bubble in a game where the player can place the character either on the right or the left side of the table. When you define the placement of the bubble with the editor it will always be on that place - not respecting if the player's character sits left or right.

How it works

Basically you define a new "kind" for your character: When you use speech bubbles you define "kind=bubble" in your character, now you define "kind=dynamic_bubble". You can write your dialogues just as you are used to and the words by this character will be shown as speech bubbles - just like now. You can use a bubble editor to place the bubbles. But additionally you can define in your script when you want to assure a placement of the bubble or if you want to adjust the placement depending on variables or something-
